The noted wildlife sculptor Kate VanNoorden “captures the true spirit and personality of each individual animal,” say viewers who are invariably enchanted and enthralled by Ms. VanNoorden’s skill in seeing beyond the physical, resulting in sculptures that reflect each animal’s distinctive character. Ms. VanNoorden’s love of wildlife and domestic animals is noted in her work both for its diversity and appealing groupings of animals. “Rather than only producing a sculpture of an animal, I find it more interesting and lifelike to create mini-scenarios that reflects how the animals interact in real life. Therefore, quite of few of my sculptures are designed in threes, or moms with babies, which clients tell me adds natural balance, some interesting negative space and even a bit of quiet drama.” Being very concerned about wildlife conservation, education and environmental protection Ms. VanNoorden donates a portion of every sale to various charities. Ms. VanNoorden is often commissioned for organizations and private collections. Busts to honor American philanthropists George and Harriett Cornell were created for The Palm Beach Zoo in West Palm Beach Florida and The Bethesda Hospital in Delray Beach, Florida. Pet owners love to have Ms. VanNoorden capture their companions with the uniqueness of their personalities. Private estate collections can be seen in America, Australia, Canada, England, India and New Zealand. Exhibits have been shown in many prestigious art institutions. Ms. VanNoorden opens her home to friends for dog sitting and has found many willing subjects to bring action and expression to her latest series – Walking the Dog. |
